Big Savings for February!

Wow! After a rather slow end to 2008, the coupon deals have really started to pick up. I have just done a little math and was surprised to see that my savings for February 2009 alone were a mighty $1418.85 (not counting register rewards).

This brings my total saved since January 1st 2009 to $2337.47. When you factor in my actual expenditure, I have saved 83.7% of the value of the goods purchased.

The Many Uses Of Peroxide...

My friend Jeannie over at Jeannie's Happy World posted an awesome list today about the many uses of peroxide. I have heard of a couple of these, but didn't realize there were so many! Do you have any other suggested uses?

1. Take one cap full (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. (I do it when I bathe...) No more canker sores, and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash.
2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of peroxide to keep them free of germs.
3. Clean your counters and table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters.
4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.
5. I had fungus on my feet for years until I sprayed a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry.
6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes several times a day . My husband has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine but was healed by soaking in peroxide.
7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.
8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, plugged sinus. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes, and then blow your nose into a tissue.
9. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a cap full of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.
10. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide-burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, faddish, or dirty blonde. ** It also lightens gradually, so it's not a drastic change.
11. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid of boils, fungus, or other skin infections.
12. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing pour it directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
13. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors. There is no smearing, which is why I love it so much for this.
I could go on and on. It is a little brown bottle no home should be without! With prices of most necessities rising, I'm glad there's a way to save tons of money in such a simple, healthy manner! This information really woke me up. I hope you gain something from it, too. I've known that with an infection, a bit of peroxide on that will fizz and help to cure the infection.I've also known that if you had a dog that's flea infested, a bit of peroxide in it's bath water will kill them immediately. But never thought of all the above uses. It is a very useful bottle to have in your home.

Cheap Wipes @ Target

Are you sad that you don’t have a Walgreens near you and won’t be able to get some cheap diapers there next week? Maybe you don’t need diapers but could use some wipes? If that’s the case, I have another place where you could use that $5 off Huggies coupon. Target carries the 184 ct of Huggies Gentle Care Sensitive Wipes for $5.99. Use your $5 off coupon and you get them for $0.99 after coupon.

Do you not have any babies? I would be happy to take those $5 off Huggies coupons of your hands. I can’t tell you how incredibly high value that coupon is and how useful it is for those of us with little ones in diapers. If you have no use for those coupons, you may want to consider printing them for a friend or family member since these high coupon savings don't come around very often.
Just a reminder- you can print 2 of each of the coupons using your computers' back browser.

It's My Birthday...And YOU Get The Gift!

Happy Birthday to ME! That's right, I have arrived at the big 3-0. I cannot believe I am 30 years old. I made a list several years ago of things I wanted to do before I was 30. Needless to say, many of those things have never happened. I could make the excuses of divorce, childbirth X 3, or even remarriage, but it's truly no one fault but my own. i believe we each make our own destiny. With that being said, I have renewed my faith in "the list" and I plan to shoot for having most of it completed by age 35.

Anyway, now that I've rambled on about that, time for the good stuff! Your GIFT! I am giving away a $10 Starbucks card in honor of my birthday. All you need to do to enter is leave me a comment telling me what your ideal gift would be for your next birthday. For extra entries you may blog about this giveaway, follow my blog, or leave me an additional comment on one of my other posts. If you do any of the additional entries, please leave a separate comment for each one! This giveaway will end on Tuesday, March 10th @ midnight. I will notify the winner via email on Wednesday the 11th. Please make sure you leave your email address in your comments so that I may contact you. Good luck!

What Is This World Coming To?

I simply can't believe it. I think I'm still in shock. Our house was ROBBED. It's even difficult to say that. It's one of those things you just think will never happen to you.

Friday evening we all went out to run errands and such. I had to make one more trip for Kmart doubles. :) When we were on our way home my phone rang and my husband went to answer it. It was HIS phone calling me. I asked him where he had left his phone and he said at home. I broke every speed limit to get home as quickly as possible. When we arrived Russ came inside to check things out and found that they had taken the glass out of our front door and unlocked it that way. They took every electronic item they could find including my husband's cell phone, our digital camera, camcorder, DVD player, Ipod, Ipod boom box and charger, as well as my kid's Atari game. We had to have missed them by mere minutes. We are 99% certain we know who did it, but of course no one can prove it. They would have taken our computer and TV as well, but since Russ is in IT they each have many cords and wires attached. Too many apparently to undo in a timely burglar manner. They missed my jewelry box because I had placed a pile of folded laundry on top of it just that morning to put away after the baby woke up.

I know these are simply material possessions, and I am thankful we didn't walk in on them causing a much more horrendous outcome. It simply feels as though we have been violated though and our house will never be the same. We have an awesome landlord who is willing to work with us, so hopefully we will be moving soon. Seth, my oldest son, continues to be scared of the "monsters." Please keep us in your thoughts in the coming days as we try to regain some sense of calm and safeness in our family.
